What's happening - 25/03/11
What a busy week we have had! On Monday we had athletics at Adventure Park. We all had so much fun and did really well at each event. On Wednesday we had an art workshop in the hall. A really cool artist named Jane taught us to draw a portrait of a man. We learnt lots of new skills like how to shade with pencil. If you haven't seen our awesome portraits yet then check out the pictures below.
Next week is going to be another busy week. We have swimming on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please remember to bring your child's togs, towel, and swimming cap so they can participate. If you are helping on swimming days please be at school 10 minutes before swimming is scheduled to start so we can get children changed before we go. The times for swimming are below:
Monday 1.30-2.00pm
Wednesday 10.30-11.00am
Friday 10.30-11.00am
Have a great weekend everyone!
Miss Martin :)

Athletics day - 21/03/11
Today we had our fun-filled athletics day at Adventure Park! We did hurdles, high jump, rocket throwing (javelin) and shot put! When we got back to school we talked about our favourite athletics event. Check out the video below to see what we think...(you might need to turn up your computer volume first though - as we are a little hard to hear)
Thank-you to all the wonderful parents who helped out during Athletics day; walking to and from Adventure park and assisting teachers to run events. It was also great to see so many parents supporting their children.

14/03/11 - What's going on?
It was a great Monday in AM class! We started the day with writing about our weekend. We all worked really hard on our writing goals and Miss Martin was very proud!
This week we are focusing on the "sh" blend so it is our letter of the week. We learnt that Harry Hat Man is telling Sammy Snake to be quiet - that's why he makes a "sh" sound! Check out the video...
We started to look at words that start with "sh" and we found there were lots of them! We did some reading with Miss Martin and found that our books have lot's of "sh" words in them too.
This afternoon we made a shield full of pictures of some of the "sh" words we thought of this morning. Have a look at the picture of our awesome shields!
Wow - what an awesome day we have had! We did some great learning and thinking, Miss Martin is so proud of us all!

Popping Popcorn Poetry!
This afternoon we wrote our very own popcorn poems using our 5 senses to describe what popcorn looks, sounds, smells, feels and tastes like! We are so clever!
Have a read of some of our awesome poems!

Popping Popcorn!
Today we made popcorn in class! We talked about the senses we might use when we make popcorn. We learnt that our 5 senses are - touch, sight, smell, hearing and taste. We used all of our 5 senses when we made our popcorn and we thought of some really good ideas about what the popcorn sounded like, looked like, smelt like, felt like and of course tasted like! Yum Yum!
Tomorrow we will write fabulous stories about our popcorn experience and our how we used our senses.
Have a look at our photos...

EOTC Week
We have had an exciting EOTC week!
On Monday we learnt all about how to be safe in the sun and made really cool sun visors. Our friend Sid taught us how to be sun safe by remembering the 5 s's - slip, slop, slap, seek and slide. Check out the video of Sid and the photo of our fantastic visors...
On Tuesday we learnt about shelters. We had to cancel making outdoor shelters because of the weather so instead we made shelters for our class dog Rolly! We learnt that a shelter needs a roof and sides to keep Rolly warm and dry.
On Wednesday we learnt about how to help someone who has been hurt. Mrs Nicholson our school librarian taught us how to clean a wound so we don't pass on yucky germs! We went back to class and practised on each other.
Today we learnt how to keep safe around a BBQ and what to do in case of a fire. We talked about the things we need to have in our houses and at school to be safe like smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. We also learnt what we need to do if we catch on fire - STOP, DROP and ROLL! Check the stop, drop and roll video and photos of us cooking sausages on the BBQ...

A HUGE thank you to all the wonderful parents that helped us out during the week and also to Discovery Kindergarten for lending us their BBQ.
Take care and check back soon to see what other cool things we are doing!
